Diy Blemish Erasing Body Scrub

It's getting close to Christmas time, so I figured I'd dedicate a short blog to a quick, inexpensive diy gift. There are loads of diy sugar scrubs floating around the internet, but this one is my favorite, any blemishes will be erased, and your skin will look more vibrant. It also smells so good I just want to eat it!

What you need:
-2 cups sugar
-1/4 cup coconut oil
-Tbsp. Lemon Juice
-1/2 Tbsp. Honey
-Tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
-jar for holding(cute packaging for a great Christmas present!)

All you have to do is mix together all the ingredients. It will make a thick "scrub-like" mixture. It's wonderful smelling and leaves your skin soft and smooth. I love it. I just stuck mine in a cute mason jar and voila. Great Christmas gift for the girls!

xoxo,

    1. If u don't refrigerate it due to the lemon juice, it would probably not have a very long life. If however, u use lemon essential oil instead the shelf life is non-expiring as the coconut oil has an indefinite shelf life also.

  5. Does it need refrigeration? How long is it good for, if it goes bad? What's the best way to remove the scrub? Soap & warm water? Warm washcloth?

    1. 1 tablespoon lemon juice + 1 teaspoon ACV

  7. I doubt this needs to be refrigerated, as the only thing that would normally be refrigerated is lemon juice, and there's only a tablespoon in the recipe.

    1. Solid would make it easier to handle, u just have to melt it to incorporate it into the mix.

    1. Use lemon juice on your dark spots every couple of days on the body and twice a week on your face. Just dab the juice on with a cotton bud for precision, or a make up remover pad on larger groups. If the lemon juice is to acidic for your skin, dilute it with a bit of honey

  17. Hi Audrey, I am a license Esthetician for the past 13 years. I have pinned your post concerning this homemade scrub. My question is how much research have you seen where this works? I plan to try it myself, however with strong professional promises you are right, they are expensive and rarely work. I have clients since in Florida that has many problems with sun spots, hypermintation. Some covers there full legs, arms, and chest. So you can see why I am so curious as to know your research or proof. As a Esthetician we all know the scars and brown spots are the most trying to remove. So I would like any infor you may share. Thank you

    1. I am a beginner to essential oils but have used them faithfully for over a year now. They're my go to for almost everything but heartburn, then I use ACV. Helichrysum oil in a 5% massage oil dilution has worked remarkably for me on age spots, scars, & skin tags on my face and neck. Cuts from shaving I use the full strength eo as it works better than a styptic pencil & doesn't sting!
Nearly all my blends have some amount of lavender due to its healing properties & wonderful smell.
The massage oil should be used 2-3x's a day for the most beneficial results. I used the straight eo on a fresh burn & never did get a scar. I wouldn't recommend using it full strength unless you know ur own tolerances as eos r extremely concentrated & may have adverse effects if not diluted with a carrier oil.
